    High Contrast Papercut Posters

    📆 Sun. 1/26 – High Contrast Papercut Posters. We will be using an exacto knife to cut paper to create powerful and graphic posters around the theme of community.

    Miriam Klein Stahl is a Bay Area artist, educator and activist and the New York Times-bestselling illustrator of Rad American Women A-Z and Rad Women Worldwide. In addition to her work in printmaking, drawing, sculpture, paper-cut and public art, she is also the co-founder of the Arts and Humanities Academy at Berkeley High School where she’s taught since 1995.View her work at miriamkleinstahl.com

    Illustrating Yourself and Your Neighbors

    📆 Sat. 2/1 – Illustrating Yourself and Your Neighbors. This workshop will instruct you on simple ways to illustrate your community while focusing on color and composition.

    Alexandra Bowman is a California native, illustrator, designer, and muralist based in Oakland. She creates art that reflects on the female experience and the importance of representation through inclusive imagery of gender, race, and culture. Some of her clients include Girlboss, Facebook, The Guardian, National Institute of Reproductive Health and the New York Times. View her work at alexandrabowman.com

    Changing Our World with Public Posters

    📆 Sun. 2/9 – Changing Our World with Public Posters. In this hands-on workshop participants will generate ideas for public posters, thinking about how we can turn political or social frustration into positive and effective action to create real transformations in our world. Together we will brainstorm ideas and experiment with text and image layout to create dynamic public posters.

    Lena Wolff is an interdisciplinary artist whose work extends out of American craft and folk-art traditions while also being connected to geometric abstraction, social practice and feminist art. Wolff’s broad but interconnected practice includes works on paper, drawing, collage, sculpture, murals, text-based pieces, embroidery, public projects, music and frequent collaborations with artists across disciplines. In 2017 she released a series of public posters that became widely distributed and adapted for different cities across the Bay Area, starting with "Berkeley Stands United Against Hate' followed by a run of posters in English and Spanish aimed at encouraging greater voter participation in elections. Wolff has exhibited her work widely and was honored in fall 2019 by the City of Berkeley her work as an artist engaged in social practice. View her work at lenawolff.com
